Function & Task

Function:

The functions of the Library and Information Center are to select, acquire, organize, and provide access to high quality information.  Provide instruction and guidance to ensure effective retrieval and usage of information to achieve the school's teaching, learning and researching goals.  This instruction and guidance is designed to meet the medical community's demand.

 

Task:

1. Acquire, organize, manage and preserve collections and information resources appropriate to HSPH’s needs;

2. Provide high quality library services with:

  • Circulation, interlibrary loan;
  • Online, email and face-to-face reference services;
  • Information services on request;
  • Education and training:

          Friday classes: Information literacy workshops are held every Friday in the library with such topics as Basic searching skills; Searching and evaluating public health information resources; Searching techniques for particular databases such as HINARI, PubMed; Citing and referencing skills;

           Classes for freshmen: At the beginning of the academic year, librarians provide classes on library resources and services for freshmen;

  • Photocopy and textbook lending services;
  • Easy-to-use access to information resources in all formats;
  • Users friendly environment and the most desirable atmosphere to study and conduct literature research;

3. Expand international relations and provide career development opportunities for staff.
